Northern Express: Bacon With A Side Of Ram

The Traverse City Geek Breakfast got some awesome recognition in this week’s Northern Express! You can pick up a copy of the February 17th – February 23rd issue (page 13) on local news stands or read it online via the Northern Express website.

The TC Geek Breakfast is a fun networking event that was started by my techy friend, Kevin Reeves, and me. We began the Traverse City chapter in 2011 and hold monthly breakfast networking events at Bubba’s in Downtown Traverse City.

Whether you like a little programming with your pancakes, CAD with your coffee, or encoding over eggs, monthly Geek Breakfasts serve up tech-friendly conversation with a side of social.

Erin Monigold, who owns Social Vision Marketing, co-founded the TC Geek Breakfast chapter along with her friend Kevin Reeves in 2011. Reeves, a musician, had attended a similar event during a stay in Nashville and floated the idea to Monigold about starting one in TC.

“Of course I thought it was an excellent idea,” Monigold said.

The Traverse City Geek Breakfast is part of the global Geek Breakfast group, founded by Dave Delaney in Nashville back in 2007, and now has chapters across the globe from the U.S. to Australia, South Africa, Italy, and Peru.

As the tech side of today’s lifestyle explodes, so does the need to talk about it, Monigold said.
