Social Vision Marketing in the TICKER

Game on, TC! Did you catch yesterday’s article all about Foursquare in the Traverse City Business News‘ Daily TICKER? If you missed it, the TICKER interviewed yours truly about the social media tool. Someone must’ve heard that I’m obsessed with Foursquare. In fact, my friends are sick of hearing me talk about it so much that it has turned into a big joke amongst them. Whenever we go somewhere they say, “Hey Erin! Have you checked in yet??”

Well, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m an addict. But if you have been following my blog, you know that I love to share information and tips about how brick-and-mortar businesses can use the tool. The best part is that Foursquare (finally) seems to be gaining a lot of momentum here in northern Michigan! I have even seen several local businesses offering their customers specials. For example, Traverse City’s Sound It Out Records has been offering 10% off to anyone that checks in at their store. Cool!

Foursquare has been getting a lot of competition from the Facebook giant as of late though. Facebook announced the addition of Facebook Deals to their Places app just this fall.

My best advice to local businesses? Offer discounts in both places!
