Today marks the beginning of ‘Tip Tuesday’, a new segment on the Social Vision Marketing blog designed to help our followers by giving some free advice.
Unlike a typical 8 to 5 job, social media is always on and so should your brand. It takes time through consistent impressions with your fans and followers in order to build some credibility and a solid following. If you’re a typical B2C company, your updates should be daily. But, keep in mind you don’t want to come across looking like spam. I would suggest limiting your updates to 2-3 per day on Facebook, spread out over the course of the day. On other social networks such as Twitter, you can have 7-8 updates and won’t lose followers for posting too often. It’s important to note that if you go a week or even several days between postings, your brand awareness can fade and credibility can be diminished.
Extra Tip: Add some personality! It’s the spice of life!
Remember that your social media profiles are an extension of your brand. It’s important to show your personality through the networks and always use a consistent voice. Even if you have several people updating your accounts, the tone, personality and voice should be consistent. Also, remember to keep your name and avatar consistent across the networks.
Social media can take a lot of time to build up relationships. The cold hard truth is that you aren’t going to see results right away, but please, please don’t abandon your profiles. What kind of a message does this send to your fans? It says that you don’t care. It’s a huge missed opportunity!
